Melanie Rozema

Melanie Rozema graduated from the fashion department at the ArtEZ art academy in 1995. In 1999, Melanie was part of the first generation of the fashion master Fashion Institute Arnhem. From 1998 to 2001, she was part of RozemaTeunissen,a design duo that created avant-garde womenswear that was presented and sold to musea and exclusive shops worldwide.

Her first solo-collection was presented in 2005 in New York. At the moment, she’s setting up her own product-line, whichcontainswomen’s garments, accessories and artworks in small series.

Next to her own label, Melanie teaches fashion design at several art academies (like the Royal Academy for the Arts in the Hague and the Fashion Institute Arnhem) and works as a freelance designer. She worked for clients like Elle prêt-a-porter and the dance collective David Parker and the Bang Group.

The designs of Melanie Rozema are founded in her search for new aesthetics. Led by ‘all things strange’, Melanie intuitively creates her own universe where uncommon objects, garments and accessories propose an intriguing vision on women’s fashion. Her starting point is often a collage or still-life of materials which evolves into final products that are constructed with great attention for detail and tactility.

Melanie Rozema lives and works in Rotterdam.
